The Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery is a non-profit educational organization legally registered in Idaho and California. Nizhoni is approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) public charity and donations are tax deductible. The Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery exists to provide a professional education for midwives who will promote maternal, infant and family health for the communities they serve. In addition to specialist midwifery knowledge and skills, midwives share common knowledge with practitioners of nursing, obstetrics, perinatology, behavioral health and complementary medicine. Midwives are expected to exemplify personal and professional accountability and promote and protect informed consent and the practice of evidence-based midwifery care.
